About the founder.
Hey Mama. My name is Jonequa. I am an early Childhood Educator & mama. I have 15+ years of experience working with children from birth to 10 years old, & their families. I obtained my BA in Child & Youth Studies from Brooklyn College.
Mama Breathe Easy, was birthed from a deep desire to provide a sense of balance for mamas. It started with a mug, that doubled as a gentle reminder for mamas to be present, & exhale. I myself, as a mother of 2 (at the time) was struggling with PostPartrum Depression, loneliness, and shame. I knew that I could not be the only one longing for community. Through my education, and personal experience, I now now strive to help mamas heal, bond with their little ones, and build community.
Motherhood is a journey, one that can often feel overwhelming. The most crucial time in a child’s development is from birth to 5 years of age. During this time, children are being socialized consciously, as well as unconsciously. This is also a crucial time for mamas. Many mamas feel overwhelmed, tapped out, and are unaware of how to begin to encourage child development in their homes.
The heart of Mama Breathe Easy, is to assist with empowering mamas by offering guided play sessions , informational sessions, as well as support groups for mamas.
